At Quinta da Lila, we are proud to manage our vineyard with a strong commitment to organic, regenerative farming principles. No herbicides are used, and we rely solely on organic fertilizers and cover crops to nurture our vines and promote a healthy, sustainable ecosystem. The vineyard is home to a diverse array of grape varieties, including 2,250 Syrah vines, 500 Viognier, 2,025 Touriga Nacional, 1,350 Alicante Bouschet, and 1,000 Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in April 2024.
We expect to produce our first bottles of wine by 2027, offering an exciting future for the estate. The vineyard is carefully irrigated using water from our own natural sources, including an old nora (Portuguese for “well”), ensuring a sustainable and self-sufficient water supply for the vines.
Our commitment to organic practices not only protects the surrounding environment but also aims to produce wines that reflect the purity and natural richness of the Monchique terroir. This holistic approach aligns with our broader mission of maintaining Quinta da Lila as a model of eco-friendly, sustainable farming in the Algarve region.
